BS EN 1090 CE Marking
for structural steel and aluminium fabricators

‍It is a legal requirement that all structural steel fabrications are UKCA-marked in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).

UKCA Marking (formerly CE Marking) demonstrates compliance with a product's appropriate manufacturing standard. Following the UK's exit from the European Union, the UKCA mark has replaced the once familiar CE symbol.

The UKCA standard affects every construction project, from a simple domestic house extension to the building of major infrastructure projects such as power stations.

A number of small to medium sized fabrication companies have chosen not to invest their time and money into gaining this certification, which means that it is illegal for them to supply and manufacture fabricated structural steelwork.

Charles Watts Engineering Ltd has been audited by the Steel Construction Certification Scheme (SCCS) and is proud to be fully compliant with UKCA Marking requirements to BS EN 1090-1.

This means that we can manufacture structural steel fabrications up to and including Execution Class 2.

  • Execution Class 1 – Farm Buildings
  • Execution Class 2 – Buildings
  • Execution Class 3 – Bridges
  • Execution Class 4 – Special structures

For all our steelwork projects, we will provide the UKCA Mark upon delivery or collection of your goods and have the documentation to satisfy compliance with the CPR.

By complying with the standard, Charles Watts Engineering Ltd can ensure that clients and contractors have full confidence throughout the supply chain of steel construction — from the manufacture of the steel sections to their fabrication by qualified welders.
